FINTIRI IS NOT GOING TO APC, FINTIRI IS A PARTY HIMSELF - George Kushi

As political actors across the country start rushing towards the APC in a frantic move to forestall the dragnet of Ahmed Tinubu's trap using the graft agencies as a threat, juicy inducements, etc, lionhearted and fearless ones amongst them have continued to resist the threats posed by the APC.

Prominent amongst those that stoically refused to shift grounds is Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri the Adamawa state governor despite widespread rumors that he will move to the APC to seek refuge. Although many presumed party stalwarts have jumped ship,he has shown no sign of leaving the PDP ,a party he struggled to sustain and build from it's embryonic stage to maturity. Many analysts of Adamawa and national politics are steadfast that a shift to the APC is not likely based on his antecedents.

It will be recalled that even when he was robbed of certain chance after his superlative performance as acting governor, when his popularity was at its peak ,he did the unexpected by remaining in the party and supporting the party's candidate to it's peril.

Today, despite the gale of defections the dogged and principled stance of Fintiri makes it hard to believe that as a seasoned fighter and resilient captain he would jump ship at a critical. moment like this. With several party loyalist on his side and a teeming Adamawa state populace, the real battle for Adamawa state Government House in Dougirei will see the FINTIRI annointed candidate slug it out with all- comers. The die-hard attitude of this stoic politician precludes the possibility of jumping ship as a result of an incoming storm of witch-hunting from the center that intends to cow opposition politicians into submission.

When the time comes, it will not matter what party but the person and when it is the time to take full stock , we will be proud to have identity with a position that is not on the part of cowardice
