Dr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa: A Rare Breed of Politician

In the ancient wisdom of the old, it's said that "a tree with fruits bent its branches." Dr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa, a politician and philanthropist, embodies this proverb.
Despite his towering achievements, he humbly serves others, seeking no recognition, attention or praises.
The Bible teaches us that "when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father (God), who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:3-4). Dr. Durkwa has taken this teaching to heart, supporting countless individuals, institutions, and organizations across Nigeria without fanfare.
In our communities, we often say, "If you want to hide something from an African, hide it in the market." But when it comes to Dr. Durkwa's good deeds, the market remains eerily quiet.
His philanthropic efforts have touched the lives of numerous widows, orphans, vulnerable individuals, institutions and organizations, yet he chooses to remain silent.
As the Yoruba proverb goes, "A ki i se'fun eni l'eni ri," meaning "One doesn't do good deeds for recognition." Dr. Durkwa understands that true leadership is not about seeking praise or recognition but about serving others.
His selfless approach to supporting the people of Adamawa State is a demonstration of hope.
In a world where self-aggrandizement and publicity often accompany acts of kindness - cameras and loud microphones, Dr. Durkwa stands out as a rare leader.
Often, those touched by Dr Durkwa's gestures are so overwhelmed that they can't keep shut. Just like Our Lord and Savior -Jesus Christ, instructed that certain of His miracles should not be disclosed, yet, many go about spreading it out, so it is with Dr Durkwa's beneficiaries.
He is a shining illustration of a politician who can salvage the people from their misery with dignity and without exposing their vulnerabilities or weaknesses.
As we reflect on Dr. Durkwa's character and actions, we are reminded that true greatness is not measured by wealth, fat bank accounts or accolades but by the positive impact we have on others while preserving their dignity.
Dr. Durkwa's commitment to giving in secret indicates his integrity and compassion, and his leadership style would be a blessing to Adamawa State.
